Back in March I was asked to shoot marketing images for Surfdome’s latest ski and snowboard collection. As one of the largest winter sports retailers in Europe, their collection is extensive and includes hardware and technical outerwear from the most respected brands in the industry.
Images for the online catalogue had already been taken care of in the studio, so the goal here was to provide aspirational lifestyle shots which the in-house marketing team could use across the website, newsletters, banner ads etc.
“It was great to return to Tignes and use my knowledge of the ski area”
Our location was the high altitude French resort of Tignes, with a trio of local seasonaires employed to model. I’ve spent a few years living in Tignes myself (my first winter here was way back in 1997!) so it was great to return to the town and use my knowledge of the ski area to find suitable backdrops and even a few stashes of spring powder.
When it came to capturing the range of splitboard gear, we got up before dawn and hiked up the piste below the Chaudannes chairlift, where we were rewarded with a gorgeous sunrise over the famous Chevril dam. Not a bad day in the office!
