About

I guess you could say that media is in my blood. My father Robert Blomfield was an outstanding street photographer, and some of my earliest memories are of the whir of his slide projector in the dark, or opening his cupboards full of yellow Kodak boxes.

“My style of photography is documentary at heart. I prefer natural light to flash where possible, and spontaneous portraits to posed subjects”

As an English literature graduate and the editor of a snowboard magazine for over ten years, I am comfortable creating narratives across words and pictures alike. I’ve written copy for brands, developed successful SEO strategies, sifted through thousands of submissions and worked with a host of talented photographers, filmers, graphic designers and writers. I’ve also been fortunate enough to travel the world – from crowded Olympic events watched by millions, to remote mountain landscapes – and capture the adventure that unfolds.

My style of photography is documentary at heart. I prefer natural light to flash where possible, and spontaneous portraits to posed subjects. The equipment might have moved on since my dad’s day but the essence of a good shot remains the same: it tells a story.

I feel lucky to live in Cornwall, which never ceases to be a beautiful place to photograph whatever the season. When I’m not behind the lens you’ll find me paddling into the surf at Perranporth, or playing on the sand with my wife Rachel and our six-year-old daughter Iris.
